LOADING THE M/V CRISTINA EXPRESS FOR THE WORLD FOOD PROGRAMME (text) Tuesday, January 26, 2010
Antillean Marine Shipping Corp. working together with the United Nations World Food Program has successfully completed the loading of 400 tons of fuel, and over 1000 tons of ready-to-eat meals aboard the MV Cristina Express to sail to Port-au-Prince on Tuesday, January 26, 2010. During the last six days our Terminal employees have worked tirelessly receiving and stuffing and loading 80 trucks of ready-to-eat meals that have arrived at Antillean Marine’s Terminal along the Miami River. Teamwork has played a big roll in this important operation. We are now accepting relief cargo and all type of cargo shipments via Port of Miami River to Port Rio Haina, DR and trucking over the road to Port-au-Prince. All Haiti Northbound cargo can be booked and shipped thru our Agemar Agent in Haiti. Customs Launches Importer Security Filing January 26th, 2010 "Customs and Border Protection began enforcing its Importer Security Filing, or 10+2, rule on Tuesday, ushering in a new era of requirements on importers for more detailed information to help security inspectors target high-risk containers.The ISF rule, two years in the works, requires importers and carriers to hand Customs 12 data elements not included on the cargo manifest that the agency can use to sharpen its anti-terror screening." AID TO HAITI (pdf) Thursday, January 21, 2010
Miami, FL January 21st , 2010 In collaboration with the United Nations World Food Program, Antillean Marine is working to bring humanitarian aid to survivors and people whose homes have been destroyed as a result of last week's devastating earthquake. Humanitarian aid is being received at Antillean Marine's terminal along the Miami River where the logistics efforts of receiving and loading over 90 truckloads of ready-to-eat meals are taking place in coordination with officials from the World Food Program. The first shipment is being loaded on board the MV Cristina Express, a landing craft chartered for the exclusive use of this project, with capacity to load up to 1000 tons of fuel in a separate storage tank, and 1200 tons of cargo on open deck. Besides chartering the MV Cristina Express for this purpose, Antillean is also receiving containerized cargo and equipment which will be sent to Haiti via Dominican Republic ports, until the dock in Port Au Prince is repaired. The needs in Haiti are particularly great right now and it is our responsibility to come together in helping those in need.
