PORT HURRICANE CONDITION X-RAY – 48 HOUR ALERT

In accordance with National Hurricane Center Tropical Storm FAY Advisory #8 issued at 11:00 a.m. EDT on August 17, 2008. Tropical Storm FAY was located 350 miles southeast of Key West, Florida. Tropical Storm FAY is moving towards the west northeast at 13 mph and expected to turn northward on Monday. Due to the possibility of tropical storm force winds (35-43 MPH) entering South Florida within 48 hours, the Captain of the Port is ordering Port Hurricane Condition X-Ray for Port of Miami and Miami River. Port Hurricane Condition WHISKEY – 72 Hour Alert
Time: 1700/ Date: August 16, 2008
In accordance with the National Hurricane Center Tropical Storm FAY Advisory Number 06 issued at 5:00 p.m. EDT on August 16, 2008, Tropical Storm Fay was located about 455 miles south southeast of Miami, FL. Tropical Storm FAY is currently moving west at 15 mph and expected to turn to the northwest in the next 24 hours. Due to the possibility of gale force winds (35-43 MPH) entering South Florida within 72 hours, the Captain of the Port is ordering Port Hurricane Condition WHISKEY for the Port Miami, the Miami River, and Port Everglades.
